Paul has really warmed up to my boyfriend and they have become best friends. He even gets face kisses and super happy "You're home!" greeting from Paul. They snuggle together all of the time now. Here they are with our pup Apollo. The boys have to stick together in with all of us ladies outnumbering them!
Paul is a shy sweetheart looking for love! Follow Paul's journey at LDCRF and see what it's like to bring Paul home.

Brave Boy!
Paul was such a brave boy at the adoption event today! His other foster family came to visit him and we brought along our pitty pup Apollo to keep Paul company so Paul was one happy pup! He gave all of his friends hugs and kisses, his tail wagged, and he smiled like the goofball we know and love!
I mean, they don't get much handsomer than Paul! Plus, he just adores you once he knows you. Look at the love in his eyes! We have is unwavering attention!
Even though Paul had fun, he was happy to jump back into the car and head home. Can you tell that he now loves car rides?! Silly boy!

You're home! Yay!
Paulie is always so happy to see me when I get home! He bounces around like a bunny and jumps in the air with a happy spring in his long legs. His tail is constantly wagging with delight and excitement. What I love most about Paul's hello is his goofy, silly, adorable grin. He exudes an aura of complete and total happiness. All of my problems and stress just melt away while Paul smiles and gives me puppy kisses. He is a good egg.

Adoption Events
Paul wasn't too happy when we went to an adoption event today. He thought we were going for a walk and instead the poor guy ended up in a crowded Petsmart. All of the people and chaos can be a little overwhelming for a shy, sensitive guy like Paul, but he tried his very best to be brave and he made his bandana look good. Children got to pet him and he accepted gentle pats and chin scratches from kind strangers as they learned his story. He was happiest when he had a canine buddy to sit with and sniff, but he settled for getting cozy under my legs or on top of my feet if no one with a tail was available.
When the adoption event was over, Paul happily walked back to my car and hopped in. He wanted to sit on my lap, but I explained that just wouldn't do. So he sat in the passenger seat looking at me with that big goofy grin I love. Maybe next week will be the week Paul finds a home, but until then my pups were very happy to see him and I am enjoying his silly kisses and cuddles.

Love me!
Paul is a total love bug once he gets to know you! He is always ready to cuddle on the couch and simply adores his people. His soft brown eyes just beg you pet him.
And if his eyes don't convince you, then he hopes a gentle paw will help you notice that he wants some loving! He really is adorable.

Paul and Laura both love treats. This is Paul's gimme that cookie face! Cute right?! He already knows all of his commands and is super smart so if you happen to have some freeze dried chicken, then Paul is ready to put on his best show for you!

The Great Outdoors!
Paul and the pups couldn't wait to play outside this afternoon. They love looking out the windows and are always ready to enjoy a beautiful day!
Paul really loves being outside and playing in the yard with our pups. He is very athletic and can run super fast. Here is is pondering "Might that be a chipmunk I hear? Why yes... yes it is!" and then away he went!

Puppy Snuggles!
Paul really LOVES other dogs! He and our shepherd Lucia are having a small love affair. They are both from Puerto Rico, so they might have some special secrets to share. The two of them are always playing together and afterwards they settle in for a nap on the couch with me. Paul is quite the expert snuggler.

Cuddle Me!
This is how it starts, a gentle paw on your knee or your arm...
Then, before you know it, Paul is melting your heart with his big brown eyes! I mean seriously, who could resist that face?! Not me... I am loving that Paul thinks he is a lap dog!

Chipmunk you say?
Paul is a perfect pack member. He gets along well with all of our dogs and even tolerates my terrier bossing him around. Here they are watching chipmunks from the den. Silly hounds...
Since Paul has bonded with me, I have been able to let him off of the training lead in our fenced backyard. He is a good boy and comes back inside whenever I call him. Of course, there's some freeze dried chicken in it for him to come and he LOVES food! He is such a smartie and so eager to please his people.

My New Best Buddy
Paul has become my new best buddy! He is still a little nervous with my boyfriend, but it is common for shy dogs to prefer the ladies at first so it's not surprising. I've been giving Paul lots of chin scratches and his tail is always wagging now.
This goofy guy is even starting to put his paws on my lap and give me kisses! It is amazing how much he has already warmed up!

Paul's First Day
We picked up Paul from his foster parents today. It was after the adoption event ended and he looked over his shoulder at them as we walked away. He was a little nervous, but hopped right into the car alongside our current foster Laura the Beagle. Paul looked out the car window and poked his head between the front seats to check us out. After he settled a little, he laid down with miss Laura and used her as a chubby pillow.
When we got home, Paul was greeted by our crazy pack of pups - a bossy terrier, a shy shepherd, and a goofy pit bull. He was submissive and sweet with all of the pups and was instantly accepted as part of the pack. Since Paul was still nervous with us, I decided to walk him in the backyard on a long training lead rather than let him loose in the yard yet. He was a very good boy. He did all of his potty business outside and then came right back inside with me. He was still unsure, but started to approach us alongside the other dogs to get some lovings and pets under the chin.
When it was dinner time, Paul came running in with the other dogs to get his nom noms. Paul is a bit of a slow eater, so he seemed to do best eating a little ways away from our piggy pups who like to chow down. After dinner, Paul licked our fingers and wagged his tail. We were nice people after all! He settled into one of the big fluffy dog beds nearby and took a snooze.
When it was time for bed, Paul followed our pups to the bedroom and got into his crate with a little coaxing. He is very treat motivated, so it wasn't too tough to convince him. He is settling in amazingly well. I am so impressed with his progress and cannot wait to get to know him better!

When I met Paul...
When I met Paul it was the first time that I went to visit the Lost Dog ranch. I was told that Paul was my type of dog, meaning that he was a shy baby. I walked up to his group kennel to try to get a sneak peek of Paul, but all I saw was a blur of white and black as he ran away to hide from the strange lady and her squeaky voice. A few months later, Paul went into foster care with an awesome couple and their pack of pups. He has made HUGE strides in his socialization and has come a long ways from that blur at the ranch. He is still shy and nervous with strangers and new environments, but he has learned all about living in a home and being loved.
His foster parents are going out of town for a couple of weeks and I am very excited to be borrowing Paul while they are away. I can't wait to get to know this shy baby and give him lots of lovings!
